at the highest seat
...pausing (after a minor operation) to await changed course... hoping to enter the watershed of the new...
...a cold mist envelops the distant city, only the rooftops of the Vale of Health can be seen... the sky is light grey and the trees are bare... a cold but gentle wind blows from the north and the gorse bushes before me vibrate slightly... a single tv aerial rises above the village rooftops like a mechanical heron attuned to expected radiation or other nourishment... while i wait here and there for signs of the new in the dying presence of the old culture... no longer to be feared or condemned but renewed in a different reality...
16.10 ...dusk begins and electric lights switch on while the trees and undergrowth and grass prepare for a night in cold and darkness... things artificial thrive as the ancient cycles of the cosmos continue and as words arrive from nowhere to realise these thoughts and to give them social existence...
...as i wrote those paragraphs a man passed by with a large white dog resembling a greyhound... and now the sound of a loud and fast car is audible above the low roar of other traffic...
...a disconnective moment perhaps but also connective... to the as yet unknown... the everyday...
...the pause continues...
