on new year's day


a new year

an imagined moment

soon after the winter solstice

but a good reason

for seasonal greetings

between each of us

supposing we are one

in this new beginning

of our time together

on this planet and beyond

and in these words connecting

as well as renewing

the mystery of life

in these ordinary remarks

that arrive here from memory

of each others' presence

at this imaginary time

in the reality of all

that the new year may bring


i hope it brings happiness

to all of us
