city forest
...in fading daylight... most of the yellow leaves have fallen (since i was here a few days ago)...
...low clouds moving quickly above the tree tops... the western horizon is hidden by clouds (now at ground level)...
....sudden gusts of strong wind... hundreds of yellow leaves descending simultaneously...
...loud bangs: the pre-arranged explosions of fireworks... and the sounds of an emergency vehicle...
...as i walked here... (as quickly as i could to overcome the inertia of yesterday)... i made a new resolve: to cease comfort and compromise and to direct energy to the necessary struggles with existing reality... while holding to aims that can inspire...
...two birds fly soundlessly above the treetops as if seeking a calm place before a storm...
....looking at crowds of leaves and flying seeds leaving the tree tops beneath low cloud... and the swaying branches and tree trunks... feel i am seeing the change of season actually happening...
...guided by chance process i walk to a ridge from where the western horizon is usually visible (but today it is hidden by low cloud)... and then i go to another chance selected point from which it may also be visible:
...dramatic skyline of dark grey cloud low on the northern horizon... one man and a dog in a field in near darkness... i remember that today is bonfire day (the day when we burnt effigies of Guy Fawkes, organiser of a plot to put gunpowder beneath the Houses of Parliament... perhaps a 17th century precedent for the 9/11 attack)... and leaves are still green on the oak tree above...
...alone now in near darkness (on this deserted piece of the planet)... i stay a few minutes before walking to a bus stop on the way to collect fruit juice and other luxuries from a supermarket... and then return to the flat where i can edit this and put it on line... becoming action of a kind... for this... for this too is the universe...
