8 april 2012 change of state

...at highest point... surprised amidst what i might formerly have described as the noisy and grotesque presence of a funfair with dodgem cars and fright-making rides and slides and diesel fumes from the generators and other hideous and pathetic sights and sounds and smells of what is so mistakenly described as a funfair... in the woods surrounding the highest point of this cityforest...

...though on reflection (as i write indoors after being stopped by drizzle from writing in the presence of what is written about) i'd describe more tolerantly as sad consequence or parody of day-to-day imprisonment in the tragic process of mechanisation that perhaps diminishes us all...

...but (before encountering this denial of what seems good in the expansion of human life and context) i was walking through familiar woods and contemplating the slow but inspiring growth of a tree trunk... and its accompanying ivy... plus a small unidentified plant at the base of the ivy... which itself was accompanied by a yet smaller plant (resembling miniaturised clover)...

...while i was also exploring the possibility of returning to ownership of car or campervan and thus recovering geographic freedom and of also returning to addressing public issues and perhaps recovering ability to earn and to participate in public life (but this thought ignores the probable if unrecognised value of i+e and other books still barely visible... and the value of simply 'staying put' to continue this unending diary digitised in its moments of conception... perhaps partly free of that diminishment of all (is this my obligation?)...

...ill-organised but of evident value (as is this noting of my state of mind) i feel it's timely to translate it into actions appropriate to what is struggling to appear in these 'remarks' (which, as Gertrude Stein stated, 'are not literature')...

...i pause... and pause again... as i look out at cherry trees in sudden blossom over lawn... awaiting consequential thoughts this evening here and now... in peaceful writing place* just reachable from any other place to which the internet extends...

12 april 2012:

at this point recall William Gibson's evaluations of computernets: what comes to mind:

he seems to say that social media could take the place of was it profit motive... or was it culture... ? i guess both

he observes, not the operations of internet and computing, but the behaviour and manners of those who gather round them...
