6 may 2013 re walking

from the north (edge of the heath) to the south

...after hearing that about half the population walk for less than 9 minutes a day i decided to walk an average of at least twice that... (walking here via a chance-selected route took about an hour)...

...while walking along a tarmac path i met a boy of about 5 who was attempting to ride a scooter and a skateboard simultaneously... but he couldn't do it poor boy... the scooter went one way and the skateboard went another!...

...sitting now at the tumulus between several talkative groups... another group of seven is walking away slowly and silently in the dusk (as if acting in a play)... and a 2mm greenfly has just visited my hand... while from above a low blue grey cloud i can hear the sound of aero engines... but i can't see the aircraft...

...at the station... and now in the train and travelling beneath Hampstead... until i get out at the next stop while a family with several scooters gets in... the popularity of pedal cycles, scooters, roller skates, skatebords and electric bikes etc makes me think again that legs (and other body parts) are in the process of becoming 'prostheses for everyone'... (while cars and buses and some trains are becoming able to accommodate bikes, buggies and wheelchairs etc)

...long wait at a bus stop with three people who know each other and are talking (it seems happily) as if world in its wonder and horror is absent from our lives... which perhaps that is how we should be... unaware of 'problems' and 'conditions'... while attending to 'life itself'...

...on reflection i realise that the three people talking at the bus stop are the same three who were walking in front of me as we walked from the last pond to the station... i suppose it's quite rare to recognise people whom one first met a few minutes ago in a crowd... as if we are not strangers but 'one people'...
