9 february 2014 daffodils in bud and high wind. . .
near to the 39 steps
...taking the first walk for a week or two i see that daffodils are already in bud... and crocuses are already out...several pine trees have fallen here in recent winds...
...today is sunny and the southwesterly wind is quite strong and 'whole trees are in motion' (as it says in the Beaufort scale of wind speeds)... so i sit here in a clearing...away i hope from the fall lines of surrounding trees...
...this is my first use of iPad mini out of doors and in the city forest... (at which there is a roaring gust... and more swaying of branches)...
...this larger screen and keyboard is certainly much easier to use (without the frequent mistakes i used to make with the small keys of the iPod touch)...
...at which nearby tree trunks are actually bending...so i decide to move to a safer-looking spot...perhaps in the cafe...
...tea and cake in cafe with 10 to 20 others... enjoying the sun while protected from the high wind...this is what we used to call civilisation... and have now begun to doubt...
