12 december 2014 a cold day in the city forest...

...but sunny... leafless... and still...

...on my way to Sandy Heath i passed through a park in which there is a 'stumpery' (a kind of botanical garden for decaying tree stumps, mosses, etc, and the creatures that thrive on such)...

...while i was there a squirrel jumped onto my legs and began to climb up my body as if i were a tree!...

...later i phoned the park keepers to suggest that such a squirrel could be a danger to a baby strapped into a buggy...

(forgot to bring the handheld so i'm writing this from handwritten notes and memory)...

at about 3pm i found myself walking on frost-covered grass though there was no sign of frost on the surrounding trees and undergrowth...

...at the highest seat the distant city towers were lit by the setting sun... seen through clear air this freezing afternoon... beneath pale blue cloudless sky... i don't remember ever seeing this view in such clarity in cold air...

spoke with three people... all smiling... one told me that someone was preparing a good meal for them at the end of their heath walk...

on the way back i passed an expensive-looking Mercedes... on the rear window was a sticker reading:

end torture now
my eyes are open

...good to see a protest message displayed perhaps by a rich person...
