21 march 2015 invisible eclipse and a crow

...Parliament Hill and several hundred people waiting for an eclipse of 85% of the sun... dark point was a few minutes ago but due to an all-pervading mist there is no darkening of the light... and everyone is just standing and talking... (many with dogs)...

... all i see is a uniform light greyness... and now i can just detect a slight lightening as the shadow of the moon moves invisibly away from the sun....

...or am i imagining it?...

...a solitary crow is flying slowly overhead as it circles the crowd... a few minutes ago it was eating something at this seat...

...where i came (to sit and write) because the crow descended here and because the other seats are occupied... my writing hand is getting cold so i replace my glove...

but no... i wish to write more and remove the glove again...

...a few minutes later two thirds of the humans have gone... while the rest of us stay... and stand still and talk continuously (as if this is what we normally do at 9.30 on a Friday morning)...

...time to go home... where i'm usually in bed at this time but today i set an alarm for 7am solar time and came here...

...and now mint tea in a cafe... while hands warm... to read a newspaper*... (and to write this)...

*reading news that migrants are now adding about 1/3m a year to the British population and are a cause of the recent increase in economic prosperity... but main political parties dare not encourage immigration as many people are likely to vote against it... (in the coming election)
