16 may 2015 seven sisters ponds
summer evening... amidst banks of vegetation... gentle breeze and still
water... to the cawing of a single crow and occasional sounds of smaller
birds...
...a duck descends at a steep angle onto the water surface and
disappears behind rushes... and there are sounds of distant trains and
cars and the occasional sound of an emergency vehicle... and now a bird
who's call i don't recognise is calling loudly within a few metres...
while a duck is floating without moving and another is duck-diving for
some water creature below the surface... and then the stationary duck
dives also... until suddenly they fly together up into the trees and
don't return...
...but my main impression is of the living unity of the plants and
creatures we call nature... from which we think we are separate... while
also being a part... the sky is blue the trees are green and we are
wearing clothes of different colours... a tiny fly lands on this
illuminated touchscreen and flies away after 2 or 3 seconds...
...on the way back i see what could be two foxes disappearing into the
undergrowth...
