rainclouds over the city

...here at highest seat all is dry but a raincloud over the distant city towers extends to ground level... and now the cloud is suddenly rising and the towers are again visible...

...the few square meters around the seat are very worn... and carry deposits both natural (pine cones) and artificial (cigarette butts and an aluminium drink can)... and now i'm imagining some of these deposits existing as fossils in the future history of this moraine (which is Hampstead Heath)...

...looking upward i notice twenty or so small flies or midges hovering above my head but i feel no stings...

...heath extension... a cool evening... grey sky... no wind... people in ones and twos accompanying dogs... suddenly i felt a soft pressure behind my knee as i walked along a grassy path (it's the snout of a dog)...

...the trees are in full leaf... this place is so private... and yet so inhabited... a tamed landscape... (and tamed people with tamed dogs)... is it that we prefer nature to be tamed (ourselves included)... or that a weakness?... (weakness or not... i like it!)
