14 januari 2019 large and small

is there a virtue in the small compared to the largeness? . . . as if one person is in one respect better than two, three or a large number . . . smallness is present as a virtue in christianity . . . where as largeness is not i think . . . where does it come from this preference for smallness? . . . is it the individual?

and this dislike and distrust of the large . . . large, relative to what? . . . perhaps the tribe relative to the individual . . . yes, the individual being also a very large entity composed of myriads of particles . . .

one needs not to continue this catalogue of sizes to be sure that there is something in it . . . a paradox of scale . . . with human scale being given a privilege and in human scale being a bad thing . . .

but as i listed those categories i was aware of a strong like and dislike for each of the extremes . . . plus a modest liking for modesty . . . large is huge, terrific, enormous . . . such words bring liking and approval . . . as if both large and small bring both approval and disapproval . . .

i think there is little value in any of these distinctions of size . . . so let's have done with them!

this all collection is however in some way tedious, being absolutely dull and not interesting in itself . . . whereas actual objects that arrive as large or small are much more delightful or horrific . . .
