19 january 2019 micro macro/greenness
thinking of actual things which are either very large or very small compared to human size, my mind goes automatically to the scale of atoms and also of stars . . . these both arouse interest and fear for instance nuclear magnetic resonance / NMR . . . the name has changed, as in magnetic resonance imaging, because the word nuclear has been associated with bombs and explosions . . .
catching a blanket in order to avoid lost of heat . . . but heat not being a particle but a movement of particles . . . faster equals hotter . . . here i detect rational explanations of irrational fears . . . one of these fearful, yet magnificent things, is the realisation that the sun, and incidentally the stars, are in fact continuous nuclear explosions which provide the warmth and comfort of life . . .
the cosy hot water bottle being related to the terrifying acid bomb or nuclear power production . . . amidst all these wide ranging possibilities both macroscopic and microscopic, here i am feeling cold in my old age clutching readily a blanket which makes me look like a cozy philosopher i suspect!
and there is the joy and fear of coldness of death . . . we are indeed touching here on dangerous ground . . . as well as delightful . . . think of ice-cream / i scream with fear or delight . . .
