water . . . of the four elements this is the only one which is a simple chemical compound . . . although when you look at the number of impurities removed by the water engineers it is more than a hundred . . .

that does in any case show that water is a different kind of fluid from most . . . it seems to have a spiritual quality as well as having a material one . . . an element of doing good in many ways . . . for instance the use of water by a fire engine to deal with excesses of the element fire . . . or for instance in the bible, water is treated as something dangerous or pure and even holy (i think) . . .

as a person suffering from some medical issues, i am told by everyone drink water drink water drink water . . . water seems to be a remedy for every illness or every symptom!

there is then the question of learning to swim . . . where one lacks the kinds of lungs which would be really suitable in water . . .

although not attracted myself to swimming every day, i am frightened enough of drowning and have taught myself to swim to avoid this possibility . . .

the research of a friend has succeeded in finding water marks on the rocks of Mars . . . giving the idea at one time it could be a place where plants would grow . . .

i think i am more attracted to things with less water . . . the desert is to me more attractive than the sea . . . and there is much more water than land upon the earth . . .

that is enough about water . . . and also about the elements . . . all four show that the idea of the elements is comprehensive enough in itself to provide an abundance of connections and contradictions and . . . and . . . and . . . (the ingredients of both philosophy and digital mathematics)
