it?
. . . this could be the most bewildering of subjects . . . for i take
time in all its aspects to be imaginary . . . with all the pleasures to
me of being-and-not-being . . . and as a primary deceit . . . which is
frequently pointing in the direction of nonsense . . .
a simple mechanical clock . . . or even the hour glass or other
elementary time piece . . . seems in its simplicity to avoid or explain
theological or philosophical questions . . . tictoc tictoc . . . which
exist more as toys than as serious machinations. . or fairy tales and
the arrogance of those who placed the international zero at Greenwich
England . . . and the connection between time and life-and-death . . .
what time is it? . . . the numbers 22:01 appearing on the nearest
computer screen . . . these equivocal designations begin to reveal the
extreme difficulty of thinking about time . . . which to me is
sufficiently resolved by Immanue.l Kants definition of time as
the form of our internal intuition . . .*
(or sense)or seems to me sufficiently general to explain . . .(no not
explain but to give a spiritual hint as to the nature of this most
mysterious of ideas . . . or thoughts). . . the it of what time is
it? being as magical an idea as one may need to sustain almost any kind
of believing . . . (perhaps . . or yes/no as postmodern entity)
. . . well... that could suffice . . . or even satisfy . . .
