22 august 2020 broadcasting and film . . . etc

broadcasting is perhaps a name borrowed from farming in order to spread the seeds widely . . . using first hand-and-arm . . . and later mechanical apparatus . . . but that switch from physical to meta physical is probably what upsets the (British) idea that broadcasting should be educational as well as entertaining . . . and what emerges is perhaps the core of our present dilemma as public work combining education and the acquisition of knowledge . . .

i feel reluctant to continue this line of thoughts because it is largely to do with improving 'society' . . . we still lack the inspiration which would raise the whole idea out of teaching and improving people along side education as a pass time . . .

when one looks at other organisations (broadcasting or otherwise) . . . such as Hollywood, Bollywood and Under Milk Wood which was a valid effort by Dylan to make something amusing if not inspiring . . . and by the band of insiders in the BBC who commissioned him to do something new and lively . . . based on our troubled life . . . now much improved in some people's mind . . . who otherwise would perceive it as 'good' . . . (more lively than hilarious) . . .

having let my thoughts go to this extreme (perhaps they are always at one extreme or another!) . . . and a touch of nonsense explained . . .
